چکیده
In this paper I discuss in what way, if any, the collapse of Argentina’s experience with a currency board has affected the policy debate on the appropriate exchange rate regime in emerging and transition countries. More specifically, I deal with three issues: (1) I discuss some important aspects of the Argentine experience; (2) I provide a comparative evaluation of economic performance under strict dollarization; and (3) I analyze emerging countries’ experiences with flexible exchange rates, including the issue of “fear of floating.” © 2002 Elsevier Science Inc. Chaotic attractors exhibiting quasicrystalline structure
An extension of canonical projection allowing the projection of objects from higher dimensional space onto quasicrystalline structures is developed. In particular, we create symmetric chaotic attractors in 5-dimensionsal space and then project them to the plane such that the resulting image exhibits the structure of a quasicrystalline tiling. These images give a new visual expression of the hig...

If returns are stationary, then the risk of an asset in any time frequency can be estimated from the risk of the asset in any other time frequency through a simple linear rescaling. This implies that short-term risk carries reliable information about long-term risk, and both data frequencies and investment horizons are irrelevant when evaluating an asset’s risk. However, most series of stock re...
متن کاملACASA - a framework for Adaptable COTS-Aware Software Architecting
The use of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components presents a great promise, as well as challenges and risks. In this paper, we describe our ongoing research on developing adaptable software architectures using COTS components. In particular, we describe an Adaptable COTS-Aware Software Architecting (ACASA) framework that addresses the concerns of the various stakeholders of the proposed sys...
متن کاملTheory and support for process frameworks of knowledge discovery and data mining from ERP systems
Existing theory has framed the process of information extraction and agglomeration, also referred to as the knowledge discovery (KD) process, as a series of strategic search decisions, subject to constraints, with the objective of attaining a sufficient level of domain-specific knowledge for use in strategic planning. Supported by the experiences of firms representative of Client, Developer, an...

Given a Bézier curve of degree n, the problem of optimal multi-degree reduction (degree reduction of more than one degree) by a Bézier curve of degreem (m< n−1) with constraints of endpoints continuity is investigated. With respect to L2 norm, this paper presents one approximate method (MDR by L2) that gives an explicit solution to deal with it. The method has good properties of endpoints inter...
